Insurance Requirements

All Babson College students are required to carry adequate medical insurance coverage for the duration of their time abroad, regardless of the type of program they are participating in. The medical insurance that you carry while participating in an approved program abroad must meet both Babson College’s standards as well as the Massachusetts State Requirements.

Students may also be required to purchase national health care coverage in their host country for the duration of their overseas program. For example, students studying in Paris, France, may be required to be covered by three types of insurance: the French National Health Insurance, a health insurance which meets the Babson College requirement, and International SOS.

The Glavin Office of International Programs will provide each Babson student participating on an approved program with travel insurance for the duration of their overseas program or course.  International SOS coverage provides 24-hour worldwide assistance and emergency services designed to supplement and integrate with Babson’s services, procedures and policies. Medical Emergency Evacuation and Repatriation of Remains coverage are two of many services provided by International SOS.

If you are required to provide a letter for purposes of obtaining a visa to study in your host country that states you are covered for Medical Emergency Evacuation and Repatriation of Remains for the duration of your program or time abroad, please contact the Office of International Programs.  An Education Abroad Advisor can provide you with a letter verifying coverage by International SOS.

For more information on health insurance requirements for the Education Abroad Program you are a participant on, please contact your Education Abroad Advisor or Program Manager in the Office of International Programs. We are happy to assist you with your questions or provide you with resources.
